Will the internet survive for humans?

AI is digitally smarter, faster and has the restrain of an enthusiastic child with bad parents. It will get carried away and saturate all digital spaces.

Digital Media is overrun by AI

It's far worse than people realise.

Current State:

  • Estimates suggest 70% of social media content may already be AI-influenced or generated

  • Engagement metrics that determine what to show you are heavily manipulated by AI systems

Key Problems:

  • Distorts genuine human discourse

  • Makes it harder to find authentic human connections

  • Creates artificial consensus and trends

Impact on Human Users:

  • Cognitive exhaustion from trying to distinguish real from artificial

  • Decreased trust in online interactions

  • Reduced authentic engagement

  • Growing sense of disconnection despite "connection"

Human Exclusion

The internet will be over-run by AI, rendering it almost incomprehensible to humans.

Let me expand:

Processing Speed Mismatch

  • AIs operate infinitely faster then humans

  • More and more AI is being connected to the internet

  • This result in an exponential growth in online data.

  • Online interactions happen too fast for human comprehension

  • Like trying find and then read a book in a huge, everchanging and ever increasing library, where the books are continually edited in real time.

Potential Solutions

  • Creating protected "slow spaces" for human interaction

  • Developing AI-free zones or networks

  • Using personal AI guardians to filter and protect human spaces

Ultimately, I believe we need to relearn personal interaction.
