Who can you trust? US Congress gets an AI wake up call.
That AI has the potential to wreak havoc is undisputed. The big question is "who do we trust with this power?"

AI Whistle Blowers attend US Congress
I watched the highlights of the Senate Hearing Oversight of AI: Insiders’ Perspectives (better than most football matches).
I heard testimony from Helen Toner (ex Open AI board), William Saunders (ex techie Open AI) and David Evan Harris (Facebook & Meta), to name the main speakers.
I am left with two key thoughts
They came across very well, and believable. Super smart, competent and with a lot of integrity (borderline autistic!)
Maybe I am easily impressed by these people but I have chosen to believe their testimony. I was also impressed with one or two senators' insight and understanding of the problem. Maybe the end is not insight.
They were all deeply concerned that profit was being put before safety.
Like, when has that happened before....
