Stunned by AI Chat Bot performance - Case Study
I launched a chat bot for Wine Racks UK in October, three months later and the results are mind blowing.

"We have never been busier!
"Our users love it and that has resulted in loads of new business.
The AI is as good as (better than) a new high quality sales assistant”

More Clients
The primary driver was to win more clients
Increase traffic to the website through the improved SEO that came from longer dwell times.
Improve click through from the SERPs page by offering an interactive experience.
Higher conversion by allowing customers to get a sense of costs and options.
The chatbot deliver all this by the bucket load.
"The biggest surprise is the quality of the conversation, and the accuracy of the AI quote.
We are selling more and its taking up less of my time.”

An AI Quote on Christmas Day
The beauty of AI is that they don't take days off.
One of the biggest quotes the AI bot 'discussed' with a client was on Christmas day and just short of £40,000.
This quote was one of 50 provide by the AI quote tool.
Quote accuracy was within 5% tolerance (and improving)
Busiest times are weekends when the business is closed
I am so pleased with the results.
AI Generated.....,
Thanks for those details! Let me help calculate this for you.
For your wine room:
12 meters of wall length (3 sides at 4m each)
Assuming standard 2.4m height
Total wall area = 12m × 2.4m = 28.8 square meters
Material choice: Solid Oak (excellent choice - it's very durable and creates a beautiful finish)
Based on these specifications:
Oak racking at £1,350 per square meter
28.8 sq meters × £1,350 = £38,880
I would recommend our professional fitting service for a project of this size (additional £700), bringing the total estimate to £39,580.
How it was built
Chatbase was chosen as the quick-to-market AI prototyping platform. This is the interface that manages all the moving parts of the AI chat bot.
Two core data sets.
A significant amount of generic information on wine racks so the system 'knew' the basics.
Client specific data set, with information on their processes, prices and options.
Context
The biggest challenge was giving the AI the context to allow it to interpret the information in a meaningful way to users.
This is one key element where I felt I really earnt my money, as I included teaching the AI bot about the mathematical spaces involved and even trigonometry!
Testing and Test again
With the data, context and persona set the next, and ongoing phase is testing the output.
Claude Sonnet 3.5
For this job I found Claude Sonnet 3.5 to be the best option as it was the best and most friendliest at chatting. The most human.
Though it is not so good at maths, hence the trigonometry lesson!

Yes, absolutely! I can help you get started with a cost estimate, and then our design team can create detailed plans for your space.
To begin, could you tell me what type of wine storage you're looking for? Is it:
A rectangular wine wall
A triangular space (like under stairs)
A complete wine room with multiple walls
Once you share the basic layout you're thinking of, I can help calculate an initial estimate. Then we can discuss materials and additional features you might want, like lighting or climate control.
Human
Hi, can you design a wine rack if I send you wall plans?
A complete wine room with multiple walls
Thanks for letting me know! Wine rooms are exciting projects. Before we proceed with an estimate, could you share:
The approximate dimensions of each wall (height and width) that you'd like to have wine racking on
Would you prefer the racking to be made in Oak or Pine? Oak offers a premium finish while Pine is more cost-effective, both look fantastic
Are you interested in any additional features such as:
Climate control (recommended for proper wine storage)
LED lighting
Glass doors or glazing
Also, I didn't catch your name - would you mind sharing it? This will help me keep track of your requirements better.
Once I have these details, I can provide you with a ballpark estimate for your wine room. For a detailed design, we would recommend arranging a site visit with our design team who can create a perfect solution for your space..
wall 1 = useable space 4.1mtr long x 2.25 high
Thanks for sharing those dimensions for the first wall. That's a good size wall - approximately 9.225m² of potential wine storage space!
To help provide an accurate estimate, I'll need:
The dimensions of any other walls you'd like to include
Your preference for wood type (Oak or Pine)
Whether you'd like climate control, lighting, or glazing features
Also, with a room of this size, climate control would be highly recommended to maintain optimal storage conditions for your wine collection.
wall 2 = 2.37 wide x 2.25 high
Thanks for the second wall dimensions - that's approximately 5.33m² of additional space. Combined with wall 1, we're looking at about 14.56m² total so far.
Are there any other walls you'd like to include in the design?
To move forward with an estimate, I still need to know:
Any additional wall measurements (if applicable)
Your preference for wood type:
Solid Oak (premium finish)
Solid Pine (more cost-effective)
Would you like any of these additional features:
Climate control (recommended for a room this size)
LED lighting
Glass doors or glazing
Also, it would be helpful if you could share your name and email address - this way we can keep track of your requirements and send you the detailed estimate for future reference.
Pine is fine. I do need plenty of shelf space for spirits (stood up) as well as laid down wine.
Thanks for confirming Pine as your choice - that's a practical and attractive option. I understand you need a combination of horizontal wine storage and vertical shelving for spirits, which we can definitely accommodate in the design.
For a room of this size (14.56m²) in Pine, we're looking at a base cost of approximately £12,376 (calculated at £850 per m²).
However, before I provide a final estimate, I'd like to confirm:
Would you like climate control? For a room of this size (under 20m³), a high-quality system would be around £4,000
Would you like integrated LED lighting? (approximately £600)
Any glass doors or glazing elements?
Also, we recommend our professional installation service (£700) to ensure everything is perfectly fitted.
Could you share your name and email address? This will allow me to record your requirements and ensure you receive detailed information about your custom design.
For the spirit storage, we can incorporate specific sections with adjustable shelving. What percentage of the space would you like dedicated to upright storage versus wine storage?
No temp control and no lighting
Thanks for confirming Pine as your choice - that's a practical Thanks for clarifying - keeping it simple without climate control and lighting makes sense if it's not required for your needs.
So, for your 14.56m² wine room in Pine, focusing on the base installation:
Pine racking and shelving: £12,376
Professional installation: £700 (strongly recommended) Initial estimate total: £13,076
This would include a combination of horizontal wine racking and vertical shelving for spirits.
To help us move forward with a more detailed design and exact quote, could you:
Let me know roughly what proportion you'd like for spirit storage vs wine storage (e.g., 30% spirits, 70% wine)?
Share your name and email address so we can keep your requirements on file and send you detailed information?
Our design team can then create a proper layout showing exactly how we can maximize your space for both wine and spirit storage.
40% spirits, 40% wine, 20% champagne
Perfect, thanks for those clear storage requirements! That's a good balanced split between spirits, wine, and champagne. We can design the racking to accommodate the different bottle sizes and shapes, with:
40% vertical shelving for spirits (approximately 5.82m²)
40% traditional wine racking (approximately 5.82m²)
20% champagne storage with slightly larger compartments (approximately 2.92m²)
Your estimate remains at £13,076, which includes:
Pine racking with mixed storage configuration: £12,376
Professional installation: £700
Before we proceed further, I'd really like to get your name and email address.
